JEFF LINDSEY COMMUNITIES HOME PROVIDES FUNDING FOR CATCH-A-DREAM FOUNDATION
Jeff Lindsey Communities, which has a company motto of "Live Your Dream", has provided funding to a foundation dedicated dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of young people with life-threatening illnesses.
The home building/development company recent built and sold a "Catch-A-Dream" home with al profits from the project going to the Catch-A-Dream Foundation (http://catchadream.org). Jeff Lindsey, owner and president of the company, noted that for this building project, he encouraged all of his company's subcontractors to do the work at cost, thus adding to the amount of profits received from the project, and most of the subcontractors went along with the request. "The home actually sold for $152,600 and as a result, we were able to raise $60,000 for the foundation," Lindsey revealed.
Catch-A-Dream Foundation, which is based in Mississippi, is similar to the Make-A-Wish Foundation except that Catch-A-Dream gives kids 18 years old or younger who have life-threatening illnesses the opportunity to experience once-in-a-lifetime hunting and fishing adventures, if that's what they want most. Catch-A-Dream also gives kids exposure to Christian teaching during the trips.
Lindsey came up with the idea of building the "Catch-A-Dream" home after being challenged by Mark and Terry Drury of Drury Outdoors to see how much money his company could raise for the foundation. There were four teams which raised money, and Lindsey was paired with Tim Sylvia, the five-time Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title holder. The other three teams were headlined by Adam Wainwright, the St. Louis Cardinals pitching star, who hosted two banquets for sportsmen; Aaron Lewis, the lead singer of the rock band "Staind", who did a benefit concert; and J. W. Hart, the former world bull riding champion, who hosted a banquet for sportsmen.
Wainwright's interest in helping the foundation was chronicled in an article on the Major League Baseball website. A Georgia native and former member of the Atlanta Braves organization who shares Lindsey's love of hunting and fishing, Wainwright had selected "Catch-A-Dream" because he felt that his charitable work could have an impact on the lives of young people and because he wanted to share his Christian faith. Because of the Catch-A-Dream Foundation's ties to hunting and fishing and since the young people chosen for the program are provided information on Christian teachings on their trips, Wainwright thought that working with the foundation would be a good fit for his own efforts.
The Jeff Lindsey Communities "Catch-A-Dream" home was constructed in the Bradley Oaks community in Fort Mitchell, Ala., near Fort Benning. The buyers were a military family which relocated to Fort Mitchell as part of the BRAC base realignment. The sales agent in the transaction was Jim Blalock of Coldwell Banker KDPK.
Incorporated in April 2006, Jeff Lindsey Communities has become a growing company in a economic time when builders who remain in business and continue to grow are few and far between.
Lindsey began building his company’s success with a strong foothold along the I-85 corridor in Georgia from Newnan to LaGrange. In just over four years, Jeff Lindsey Communities has now become a regional builder, expanding across the state line to start developing and marketing several neighborhoods in two Alabama counties. The company, based in Senoia, Ga., is currently active in Coweta, Troup, Muscogee and Pike Counties in Georgia and in Russell and Lee Counties in Alabama.
